Blogger Connect Event at The Blues Jean Bar

Sunday, December 15, 2013

Hi Lovely Readers!

Don't you just love the blogosphere?! Every day more and more people are beginning to see the power of blogging and all the cool things that come along with it.
There are so many types of blogs and whatever your personality type or interests are, there is bound to be one you will enjoy reading!

The Simmonds in the Suburbs
is my little contribution to the blogging world and I would like to personally thank you for stopping by.
I try to write about my life and the people in it, but for the most part I like to think that people read my blog because I am a down to earth, "tell it like it is" blogger.

I started the TSITS 2 years ago, but I never imagined it would turn out to be such a fun hobby where I get to meet amazing ladies like I did at the Blogger Connect event last Friday.

The Blues Jean Bar in Snider Plaza was our host site and it was such a fun night!

There were jeans everywhere!

Amber was kind enough to do a presentation on how to find the perfect jean,
she did a great job teaching us about fabric, washes, sizes and colors!

How fabulous are those prints?! Oh and you should totally follow her on instagram she is super cool...

Sarah and I both tried on the SMU jeans, GO MUSTANGS :)

Amy looking fab, and Sarah rockin' those metallic jeans!

These jeans were amazing, and fit me better than any pair I have ever tried on, I couldn't hold back from buying them so they came home with me...

Berty and Marie-Terese

Have you ever been to a Jean Bar? Well it literally looks like a real bar and it is the perfect place to buy your jeans. If you live in Dallas, you have to go check them out!

So, the moral of the story is come to our Blogger Connect events, they are fabulous just like you and we would love to meet you in person... If you are not in the Dallas area, like us anyway because the future goal is to make BC a national blogging network where we can set up events in a city near you, and if you would like to host an event, there is no reason why we can't make that happen!

Like our page so that you can be updated on future events, and find other great blogs.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post, maybe you want to follow me on instagram??

Ciao my ladies and XOXO,
~Mrs. S

Thanksgiving Week in Review

Friday, December 6, 2013

Hello Everyone,

I meant to write this post last weekend about my week off and the events leading up to my first day back at school, but my pictures weren't downloading properly and I delayed this post until today.

Today was the first snow day we have had off since 2011 when the biggest storm to hit Dallas made us miss 4 days off from work.

Well, last night the biggest ice storm to hit Dallas in 15 years caused us to get a snow day and get iced in our house all day. Most of Dallas lost power, but thank goodness my suburb community has its own power and we had no issues with that.

Since I last wrote for you, we have had Thanksgiving, lost of Christmas shopping and decorating, time with my doggies, and family gatherings.

Here is a picture recap..

My girl Kursten and I after the state quarter finals (we won!)

Sebastian and Paisley before we went to dinner

Thanksgiving evening, I feel like I look so fat! Probably because of all the food I had just eaten!

I made this!

Corn hole in the backyard, the Mr. and Kursten were on the same team

From left to right: My mom Hilda, and sisters Abigail, Nancy, Esmeralda, Veronica and I. Yes my mom had 5 daughters and 1 son.

Found these beauties at J Crew outlet for $26!!!!!!

Shrimp appetizer from Quaker Steak and Lube, delish!

I have more photos I want to share, but my Google account is not letting me :(

Please come back and visit soon, lots of things coming up on the blog including my Christmas decor, and Christmas cards I am sending out this year.

Thanks for stopping by!

Week Off!

Monday, November 25, 2013

Hello Blogging world!

Yes, it is 10:30 in the morning and I am writing a blog post because I have the whole week off and I am starting it off with a lazy morning of blogging on this wet and chili day!

I have been anticipating this week off, but the days leasing up to it were nothing less than fun with several events going on including the Culture Map event las Wednesday.

I received and email from a fellow Vivaldi Patron Circle member about the event at The Joule Hotel hosted by Culture Map, Dallas Children's Advocacy Center's Alliance group,  and The Dallas Museum of Art's Junior Associates. These events serve as an opportunity for young professionals in the Dallas area to learn about how to get involved with charity organizations and knowing me, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to network and spread the word about Vivldi. It also helped that I got to hang out with my gals who who joined me for some mid week fun!

Photo-booth crazy-ness, we must have taken dozens of pictures!

Downtown artwork we could see from the terrace of The Joule

Myself, Michelle, Kursten, and Amy

Love these gals!

Saturday, the Mr.'s team played in the quarterfinals against Bishop Dunne at Corsicana High School's stadium. It was freezing, but thanks to the Mr. his family and I got to sit inside the press box!

They shutout Dunne in a 31-0 win, which means they play the semi final's next Saturday in Plano.

Windy and cold day out at Corsicana stadium

Prayer after the victory

My brother in law who attends Oklahoma State camped out Friday night to appear on ESPN's College Game Day, and thats him with the "Bennett eats bullets for breakfast"
Coach Bennett was the Mr.'s coach at SMU...

Saturday night we celebrated by going to Randy White's BBQ in Frisco, then relaxed yesterday while it rained and sleeted a bit here in McKinney.

Hope everyone had a good weekend,
thanks for stopping by and follow me on Instagram @catsimmonds to get up to date pictures on my goings on!

Amy's Birthday

Sunday, November 17, 2013

Hello All,

I hope you all had a great weekend.
Unfortunately, mine was so quick I am not even sure you can even call it a weekend.
Friday night, I got bitten by my dog during a lesson, then had to run to All-Region where 2 of my students were participating until 9. The fun didn't end there, we were at All-Region from 8-5 on Saturday. It was a great experience for my kids, but I was ready to get out of there so I could go home and get ready for Amy's Birthday celebration at Victor Tangos.

18 of us gathered around and celebrated Amy's last year in her 20's, and it was a blast!
I can't believe I'll be 30 myself next year, her party made me start thinking about my own birthday coming up in May....

But for now, I am happy to share some photos of the Birthday girl throughout the evening.

Amy and I

Her mom brought a cake from San Angelo, and it was delicious

Red velvet, and a delicious butter cream frosting!

Ashley and I being silly...

Fun night, but tiring weekend.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week!

Weekend Update

Sunday, November 3, 2013

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.

This weekend flew by and I wanted to share with you all all the cool things the Simmonds got to do these past few days!

Friday night, I went to my first HS game this year where my husband coaches.

I had a blast watching his team win and cheering on with another coaches girlfriend.

This was him hugging one of the players after he made a 43 yard run for a touchdown.

My snack during the game, yummy!

It was really chili and windy that night, so the Mr. let me use his jacket, I was so proud of him!

There he is, pacing back and forth!

Saturday, we had All-Region auditions and that was from 7:15-5:00pm, a long day!

I was so happy at the end of the day when i found out I had 2 students who made it, and several private lesson students as well. Definitely the best teaching moment of the year so far.

Saturday night, we got all dressed up and went to dinner to one of our favorite restaurants with Kursten and Coach S at LaDuni.

After dinner we came back to the house to play Catchphrase, and we had a blast for hours!
Talk about a game that tests your patience...

Today was a low key relaxing day, you know the usual (laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning) but I was happy to see my orange roses came back, how pretty are these!?

Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Thanks for stopping by, and dont forget to follow me on instagram @catsimmonds

Maserati Event at Aria Stone Gallery

Monday, October 28, 2013

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

This past weekend was one of the busiest I have had in a while. October is always a busy time of year for me from school concerts and auditions, to fun parties and tailgating at SMU for home games. The fall season is always a great time of year in the Simmonds house.

Last Friday, I was so excited to attend a party for the unveiling of the new
2014 Maserati Quatroporte Q4 at the Aria Stone Gallery in the design district near downtown.

Attendees sipped on custom cocktails, and noshed on a variety of small bites as they enjoyed tunes by the M Event Group Company
We had such a great time checking out the beautiful new models of Maserati's and Ducati motorcycles.

Here are some snaps from the evening

How hot is this car?!

Delicious and pretty custom cocktails

I want this granite stone for my bathrooms!

Cool stone

Fabulous party on a beautiful night,
thanks for the invite Culture Hype!

Go Cowboys (Stadium)!

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

I had such a great weekend myself with a successful orchestra concert at school Friday night, and Saturday morning, I helped with the High School All-Region auditions.

Saturday evening, The Mr. and I attended a fundraiser dinner for his school at the "AT&T Stadium" better known as "Cowboys Stadium"

As we walked on the the field, a camera showed us on the 60 yard jumbotron!

We carpooled with the Mr.'s coach friend and his girlfriend Kursten

The dinner was literally on the field, the stadium looked huuuuge from down there!

Dinner was delicious and I totally regret not taking one of those cool cups!

The evening entertainment was a discussion with 4 former NFL and Cowboys legends Chad Hennings, Jay Novacek, Bill Bates, and Randy White.

The were all great speakers, I laughed, I cried, I learned, very cool.

After the presentation, we got to go to the Cowboys locker room, so of course I took a picture in front of Tony Romo's locker!

We also got to tour the press room, as you can see the Mr. was amazed :)

Such a great night!

Once in a lifetime photo.

On the way home, I was so happy to see reunion tower was displaying SMU since they won against Memphis yesterday.

Go Mustangs!

And, Go Cowboys!

Thanks for stopping by,
~Mrs. S
