Memorial Monday and Week

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hey Y'all!

I wrote about my Memorial Day weekend last post, but I didn't get a chance to get some pictures of our dinner on Monday (Actual Memorial Day) so I wanted to share with y'all our cute cupcakes I got for desert and of course our lovely dinner which preceded those cupcakes made by my wonderful chef of a husband. The side dish you see on the right (besides the asparagus) is our attempt to make roasted salsa on some fried tortillas with quesadilla cheese, they were delish!

On our dinner supply trip to Kroger, I stumbled across this beautiful china set that was on sale and matched the adorable napkin rings I had gotten at Crate and Barrel a few weeks back... The crazy thing is that I grabbed 4 that night and because our high school register attendant made a mistake on our total amount due, I got them for free!!! I was so excited about his mistake I came back two days later and bought 4 more sets (I did pay for them this time!). Wouldn't this set be perfect for a spring or summer luncheon or dinner party?!

Tuesday night my sisters and I gathered to give my mom her mothers day gift since she was in Mexico for the actual day. She loved her new iPad as you can see...!

After, we went to our family favorite Mexican Restaurant, Cuquitas, and it was as amazing as it looks. Purely authentic chicken enchiladas with tomatillo salsa, just perfect.

Mr. Gray (the band teacher) and I have been working together to perform an in school concert during our 8th period today, and this was the rehearsal. We played a movement form a Beethoven Symphony and it was so much fun. The kids really enjoyed crossing the boundary from just strings to strings and band instruments, so we had a great concert today!

Tomorrow is the last day of school, so excited!

How is your week wrapping up?

Love to hear your thoughts,

Prep for Summer

Friday, May 25, 2012

One of my favorite aspects of living in McKinney is the close proximity of the Allen Outlets. I have always loved J Crew but never really shopped there until I realized the amazing sales they have at the outlet... well today I got a whole new summer wardrobe and I've gone prep!

Check these new looks out...

Love the Hot pink shorts.

These cable knit sweaters that were originally $98.00 were only $9.00 each, yes, $9.00!!!
(I got 3)

Had to jump on the Sperry boat-wagon...

The school week ended last night with a guitar concert where one of the mom's gave me these beautiful tulips! After this 4 day weekend, I only have 4 days of school left, THANK THE LORD!

As always, I have to introduce my new follower, Tina, over at Should Not Have Done That. Her blog is super fun, check it out!

Hope y'all have a fun-filled, fabulous weekend!

A couple of teaching moments...

Monday, May 21, 2012

In case you didn't realize already, I am an orchestra teacher. I teach violin, viola, cello, and bass (and guitar) at a middle school. I also teach private lesson as a part time job, and I have several students I have taught for at least 5 years. I began teaching Diana from as a beginner and when her parents were not able to afford lessons for her, I volunteered to keep teaching her free of charge, and it definitely paid off. She is now a finalist for an amazing program by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra called Young Strings (I was actually part of the same program and it was an amazing opportunity that helped me get to where I am today...). She auditioned last year and didn't make it. We tried again this year and she is now a finalist, we find out this week if she is an official student! I am so proud of her, here are a few snaps from her recital on Saturday.

In our district, we have an early start orchestra program we offer 4th and 5th graders, and I decided to throw my group a cupcake party! Here are a few snaps from our little soiree earlier.

How cute is Emma?!

Two of the triplets

Cupcakes galore!

Hope you enjoyed!

Mrs. S's Bachelorette Weekend

Thursday, May 10, 2012

So after reading multiple posts about the many bachelorette parties happening these past few weeks with it being wedding season and all, I decided to share some happenings from my Bachelorette Party almost 2 years ago (June, 12th 2010)

Gettin' a little sun at the Ritz-Carlton pool

My amazing friend Sandy made 50's fascinators for all the attendees!

Livin' it up 1950's style!

Dinner and fun at Dragonfly at Hotel Zaza

My dress was a gift from my MIL

The next morning we soaked up some more sun at my friend Natalie's downtown Dallas rooftop pool!
Such a fun weekend! We have been planning on doing a reunion Bachelorette weekend as a fun anniversary idea, I'll let you know if it happens!

On another note, I have to give a shout out to, Megan, my new follower over at Life is Short but Sweet for Certain, check out her blog!

Hope you all are well and TGIF, tomorrow!

Birthday

Friday, May 4, 2012

It is no secret that I love getting older. I have had an old woman's soul my whole life, it was only a matter of time before I actually became "old". Here are a few snaps from the days around my birthday this past Wednesday...

This house was built next to one of my friends house, isn't it so uninviting?

Wheat field less than a mile from my house

New Allen HS Football Stadium (80 mil, more than SMU's)

Charles Krauthammer lecture at SMU's McFarlin Auditorium

The, Dr; Krauthammer himself

Outfit for lecture (remember my Lilly order!), met up with the fabulous Natalie afterwards.

Cupcake from the teachers at school

My babies and I on my birthday night, Lilly Mimosa skirt!

For my MIL who was nominated for "Mother of the Ozarks" award today!

Hope you all had a great week and I look forward to hearing from you!

Love,
