Downtown McKinney

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

If you want to feel like you have traveled back in time about 50 years, then you need to head over to McKinney, Texas! It has the most beautiful downtown square full of restaurants, antique shops, a "Drug store" and a theater right smack in the middle! I took a few pics this evening when we went exploring and ended up at an Italian place that was perfect for a romantic date night :)

Here are some snaps...

Isn't is sooo cool!

The Simmonds in Oklahoma

Greetings from Tulsa, Oklahoma!

Hope everyone is having a magical Christmas Day! It was a morning full of gasps, oohh's, and aaahh's as we opened up gifts here in the In-Law's Simmonds home. A gift post will definitely be necessary after the gifts I got both for my new home and for myself :)

Pics and details later!

Living up north has been pretty sweet so far... Friday night I organized a dinner for my students at an amazing home style chicken based restaurant called Babe's Chicken. The students loved it and had a great time. If you like Bubba's by SMU, you will love this place, because it is better! There is a location in Carrollton if you don't want to come as far as Frisco :)

Saturday, I discovered the most amazing home decor/antique/gifts store I have ever been to! It is a warehouse, Canton-like store that has the most unique things, I fell in love... I will be visiting that place more often than needed, please notify me if you ever want to join. I will eventually take pic's and post.

We headed out to our neighborhood Kroger and WOW! Technically it is a Kroger Marketplace, which I guess makes it better, because it was awesome, I would confidently compare it to Central Market, but better on the wallet and it has a home section!

The suburbs are a lot better than I ever gave them credit for.

P.S. Kristen Chenoweth was shopping at the local Nordstrom at Stonebriar!

Craig Ranch

Saturday, December 10, 2011

12-2-2011 was a very special day for my husband and I. After months of trying to find a house, getting a loan approved, and closing on our new home, the Lord blessed us with a beautiful house and we are finally living in it!

I had been commuting from Dallas to Frisco for a year and a half and after paying rent for 4 years now, we decided it was time to buy a house near my job and in a good neighborhood.  We chose McKinney because we are one street light away from Frisco city limits, and we found a house in the beautiful community of Craig Ranch. It is a fairly new development with its own parks, pools, shopping centers, and the coolest part is we live a couple of blocks away from several ranches with cows, and horses!

We are so excited to still be close to Dallas where all my family and friends live, but far enough where we don't have to deal with bad city drivers, rude people, or the crime...

This blog will be a place where I will showcase the new house as we make it our own and where I will hopefully share some DIY projects and other fun decorating ideas I experiment with. Last night was the first night we both spent the night here and we have yet to take any pictures of anything interesting, but as the rooms in the house begin to look better, I will be sure to share!

Hope you are all having a great weekend :)
