Simmonds Home Update

Hello Wonderful and Beautiful followers! 

(yes, you are wonderful and beautiful even though I don't personally know you!)

I hope you are all having a great weekend full of rest and fun!

I wanted to update y'all on a couple of DIY projects I have been up to as well as some purchases I have made lately. I would love some feedback on my choices, so please give me advice. 

I am a home decor newbie! 

I bought these $.97 frames at Wal-Mart and made the monograms on pretty paper from the scrapbook section with my computer...

Got these towels from Target for $2.99 each!

I finally got my sofa toss pillows from Target on sale! The cream flower ones are for when guests come over, the brown are for pillows when we actually want to relax on the couch!

Found this old candy bowl my MIL got me at the Tulsa Salvation Army for 2 dollars!

This $12.00 pillow was a treasure I could not resist at the Plano Antique Mall off Spring Valley, must check out if you are in the area! 

Made the S with an old canvas I had, what do you think? I'm really into monograms right now...

I moved my tea set from the couch back table to the console table.

Put up these frames I made on that table instead....

Now my living room looks like this, look at my Wrigles acting all sad on the couch!

Painted the old black mirror in white, and now it's in the guest room.

Friends and Football

Last night I watched the Bachelor and I don't know about y'all but I think Ben is such a dork, I wish him luck finding love, but I can't wait for another cute Bachelor like Brad to come on again...

Weekend Update

This weekend has been a little more busy than I'm used to. On Friday, we had our talent show at school (which was amazing) and I didn't get home till 11:00pm!

Saturday I taught a few lessons, then went to the Dallas Theater!

My 3 sisters and I went to see the new production of Giant, which is one of my favorite movies!

If you have never seen the movie Giant you would agree it has a pretty stellar cast: Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean...

The play was actually a musical, the characters were believable and were great singers too!

I decided to rock out my new red shoes from JustFab and my new fascinator!

Today has been beautiful so far so I decided to take some pictures of the lighting in my house, I really like it this time of day...

Lazy Thursday Night

Here's what we have been up to around here...

Monday we had a fun morning making breakfast and enjoying getting to sleep in

Tuesday was great but boring, I did get this cute snap of the girls watching Zac cook :)

Wednesday was more exciting cause we had the talent show rehearsal at school, should be great!

Tonight has been good so far, we watched American Idol already and had Market Street for dinner :)

NEW, NEW, NEW!

This year has been amazing so far. New year, new house, and now... NEW CAR!

I feel very blessed, y'all have no idea.

You know how middle aged men used to fix up old mustangs because it reminded them of their youth... Well, today I finally got my "youth" dream car, an old 4runner!!! My Audi A4 convertible died on me last August and I had been driving Zac's car until now! Im so excited cause I got a good deal on it, which means I wont be putting a huge dent in my wallet and 4runners are amazing cars that last forever (I used to have one, but my sister totalled it :(

Plus, I got it at this really nice dealership called Texas Vehicle Exchange, wouldn't you want to buy your car at a Texas proud dealership?!

Anyhow, last night Zac tried a recipe from my Southern Lady magazine, seared tuna with salad and it was amazing! Luckily I took a picture...

Lastly, we have been sleeping with our shades open in our bedroom because it is so nice to have the sun shine in the room in the morning, and I had to take this pic of Paisley who loves to look out...

Fun Fact Friday!

Hello everyone!

Its Friday and I am so glad to be relaxing and enjoying some down time at home with my hubs and 2 frenchies! It turns out a French bulldog replaced Kim Kardashian in the new Sketchers add and I think its hilarious...

Here is my Frenchie, Paisley, she should have been the new spokesdog for Sketchers!

Anyway, so I decided to do a fun fact post about myself instead of "tagging" anyone or being tagged so here it goes...

1. I have 4 sisters 1 brother

2. I am a resident alien, I was born in Mexico (doesn't that explain the number of brothers and sisters)

3. I can not cook but I make a mean guacamole...

4. I love to clean, especially my new house 

5. I play violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, some piano, and I have a wide vocal range so I can sing ok...

6. I have never been to Europe, Id love to visit Spain, France, and Italy

7. I dated my husband 5 years before we got married

8. I use Fabulous Foaming Face Wash by Bliss

9. I prefer quality over quantity any day

10. I follow SMU, Cowboys, OU, and my husband's HS football teams

11. I have 831 friends on FB and know at least 700 of them, haven't counted but i'm sure Im close...

12. I'd rather have nice things and live in a nice home than spend my money traveling

13. I looooove live music, it doesn't matter who is performing

14. I used to be in a band named "Quiver" No, I didn't quit cause of the name...

15. Im not a worrier or OCD, but I am envious of others from time to time (working on that)

16. I have excellent credit!

17. I would like to get my doctorate in the next few years

18. I can't wait till Mad Men comes back on March 25th

19. I have terrible vision and wear green colored contacts

20. I believe that Jesus Christ died for me, and I will forever be a follower of Him...

Finally cozy

Tonight is the first night I feel cozy in my office. Here is a pic of it so far...

I feel like slowly but surely the house is coming together. Here are some pics of the new dresser in our bedroom from IKEA, we got it for a good $130 and I think it was a good deal! Perfect for our 32" TV too!

Here is a pic from two nights ago when Jupiter was really close to the moon, you can see so many stars out here in the country!
