Vacation in Cabo

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Hello All!

As of his moment, I am recovering from a fabulous vacation in Cabo San Lucas we took with my in laws last week.

We try to go on one big trip a year, and since my parents in law offered to take us on vacation this summer, we decided to tag along for our 3rd family vacation.

We knew we wanted beach, and we had a choice between Jamaica, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo.

I have never been to Cabo, and we are huge fans of Riu hotels with their all inclusive deals, so we decided on the Riu Palace right off the beach.

As soon as we got there, we were blown away with the beauty of this place,
bougambilia heaven and of course the famous rocky beaches.

We were able to lounge in the many beautiful patios throughout the hotel

We took a boat ride over to lovers beach, right by the rocks

Famous Cabo arch

Unfortunately, the beach waves were very strong and we were barely able to swim in the beach. I personally am terrified of waves so I didn't dare get close to them, but they were pretty cool to watch

Therefore, I stayed in the pool most of the time

Beautiful sunsets with yummy drinks

This was from our last day there, it was a blast!

If you are looking for a place to vacation, I highly recommend this place.

Hope you are all having a great summer so far,
thanks for stopping by!

June

Thursday, June 5, 2014

Hello Everyone!

June is by far my favorite month of the year.

It is the month in which I reflect on the month of May, where my birthday, mothers day, orchestra/guitar concerts, recitals, and school winding down happens.

It is also the month when we usually get out of school, we have some sort of trip planned for summer, and our anniversary!

This will be year 6 of teaching completed, and I am more excited for this summer than I ever have been before because I feel like I know how to do summer now.

I now know to plan lesson days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so that I have Thursday-Monday to spend time having fun and spending time with my family/friends.

I now know not to sleep in, and actually get stuff done.
I'm talking going to the gym, eating a healthy lunch, laying out by the pool, get some cleaning done and have enough time to make dinner and wind down from the days activities.

I also know now that even though I have almost 3 months off, it goes by quickly so I can't take my time off for granted. Early on, I try not to over exaggerate that I have so much time , and I don't whine about when school is nearing in August. I read too many posts on FB by my fellow teachers with far too many countdowns leading out of and into school and I just get annoyed.
(too much attention to the past/future, not enough on the present)
I just take each day as an opportunity to live life to the fullest, and now that I am the big 3-0 it seems like taking care of my mental and physical health is living life to the fullest :)

In honor of summer coming, I have decided to share some of my favorite summer moments from the past...

Cancun 09'

Bachelorette Party June 10'

Marrying this stud June 10'

Honeymooning in the Bahamas June 10'

Nephews baptism August 10'

Bahamas 11'

London 12'
Yes, that is Kensington Palace behind me!

I can't wait to see what summer has in store for me.
I'm looking forward to...
Relaxing
Spending time with family and friends
Vacationing

attending a guitar conference
and blogging more!

Hope you guys are having a great week,

Birthday Fiesta

Monday, May 5, 2014

Hello All!

My 30th Birthday couldn't just end with a night at the W Hotel on Friday and a Kentuky Derby Party on Saturday, I had to host a Birthday Fiesta on Sunday too!

I invited all my of my family for an afternoon of fun, food, and feasting.

My Mexican Spread included watermelon punch, Jarritos sodas, 7 layer bean dip (in martini glasses), Mexican shrimp cocktail, "Frijoles a la Charra" (Mexican bean soup), rice, fajitas, and of course cake!

My sisters and mom came over early to help me get everything ready

I am still overjoyed that my grandpa came and was able to play accordion for me, then we played together like we used to in my visits to Mexico.

A birthday party in my family is never complete until we dance, which was so much fun having my grandpa play! We are sooooo Mexican!

My sis and cousin

Turns out my dad and Paisley became good friends while he was over :)

I feel so lucky and blessed to have such a wonderful and fun family, I wish it could be my birthday every day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lee Park Junior Conservancy Derby Party

Hello Everyone!

Saturday May 3rd, I was able to attend the 6th Annual Lee Park Junior Conservancy Derby Party at Arlington Hall.

I have always wanted to go to a derby party, give me big hats and nice weather anytime!

I attended the event with my best friend Michelle who ended up wearing the perfect outfit to match mine

Hot Pink and White ladies :)

Everyone watching the races inside the hall, check out that lady's bird hat!

The fabulous Ashley Mahon was asked to sing "At Last" she sounded amazing!

I wore Amanda Uprichard and it was such a hit, I got a lot of compliments. My hat was from Sam Moon, the Mr. helped me choose it.

The photo booth was my fav!

Great fun!

Next up, my Birthday Fiesta!

30th Birthday

Hey Y'all!

I turned 30 last Friday, and let me tell you it was quite the day!

It all started with an early morning of getting packed for a night stay at the W Hotel.

It was followed by an hour and a half traffic jam and an emotional meltdown on my way to meet my mom for lunch. I was so upset, but as soon as I entered our lunch destination,

The Zodiac Room at Neiman Marcus,
I came to my senses and realized how lucky I was to get to spend my birthday lunch with my mom who currently lives in Mexico.

We were introduced by their famous popovers and strawberry butter

My sister Esmeralda also joined us,

The food was delish and I was feeling so much better.

My mom and I headed to the W to check in and then headed to the pool area to go take some pictures with the Dallas skyline

How pretty is my mom?!

The afternoon proceeded us with some infiniti pool time with my bestie Michelle

The wind was blowing like crazy, but it was nice to get some sun

We headed to Nick and Sam's Grill for dinner, which was blah

But after, we hung out at the W lounge and it was such a blast!

My sisters and Michelle and I had such a fun time dancing and celebrating my birthday and the Mavs win.

My other bestie Amy was there for a little while also!

The next morning we headed to Uptown and had lunch at Del Frisco's Grill where my little Frenchies joined us

Wrigley had such a blast people watching, I can't believe how well behaved she was!

How funny is she, people watching?!

What a wonderful way to spend my Birthday!

Next up, the LPJC Derby Party :)

Edgefest 24

Monday, April 28, 2014

Hello All,

I think we all know I am a huge fan of live music.

Last weekend I had the opportunity of attending 102.1's Edgefest at Frisco's very own
FC Dallas Toyota Stadium.

The lineup was pretty rockin' including Beck, Bastille, and The Avett Brothers.

I am a huge fan of Bastille, and have a huge crush on the lead singer Dan Smith!
(dont worry my husband knows all about it, and does not mind)

We arrived at the festival around 5:30pm and the stadium was already full of people

We walked around for a bit until Bastille came on

They were so amazing live, and Dan is better looking live than on TV, pics!

How fun is his faux-hawk?!

I was watching the bassist some, and you could tell he was so perplexed by the number or girls that were crowd surfing their whole set! It was kind of funny how those girls were being thrown around. It may be that I am getting older, but I was quite content standing where I was, crowd surfing, no thanks!

This guy was the best singer I have ever heard live, Pompeii sounded just like the record as did all the other songs. And he was sporting some USA flag shoes!

I read the next day that he was a Jake's Burgers across the street, which you know I was so sad I didn't think of going there, cause I could have met him :(

The Avett Brothers played after, and they were amazing also!

If you like, Dave Matthews, Classic Rock, or rockabilly music the likes of String Cheese Incident/Widespread Panic, then you would love the Avett Bros.

Of course my favorite part was their inclusion of not just violin, but cello in all their songs!

As a string player and teacher, it is so great to know that new music is opening up opportunities to classical musicians and shows my students that cello and violin can be just as rockin' as the guitar or drums.

These guys were just awesome, great music and great energy.

The concert was such a fun event to kick of my 30th birthday week,
can't wait to share with y'all my birthday festivities from this weekend!

Belk Galleria Opening

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Hello Everyone!

Last Thursday, I was able to attend an amazing event at the new Belk opening at Galleria Mall.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Belk Galleria teamed up to host a fabulous night of shopping, fashion, and fun with a special appearance by Hayden Panettiere of Nashville and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading squad.

As I pulled up to valet, I was already in awe of the amazing evening-wear the models were wearing outside of the store.

Hayden P was fabulous! She is such a humanitarian and ambassador for charity, I was really glad I got to hear her speak.

The fashion show was incredible, I have never been a big Belk shopper, but I am definitely going to consider it now after seeing their evening gown line, all the dresses were to die for!

After the fashion show, we got to see a performance by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders

I wore my black party skirt with an oldie but goodie white JS top

I have been working on our Blogger Connect Dallas Instagram a lot lately, so follow along

to get up to date posts on all things blogger!

Hope y'all had a great weekend,
